My favorite is that we eliminated our cable service. With a little patience, anything we want to see is available online or at the library. And I’m catching up on good reads!

It sounds like a lot of work, but when we went through a lean period (hubby was not working for several months and I had just had kid #3), we worked on weekly meal plans. We shopped at Costco, planned good meals, and ate at home. Even though our Costco bills were not cheap, we saved literally several hundred $/mo by not eating out.

I bring my own lunch to work or go home if there is time. We have a great chef on campus so I stay away from the Campus Cafe so as not to be tempted. Saves at least $35/week.
My two favorites are using my library card (I used to spend tons of money on books, now I only buy if I know I want to read them again.) and meal planning, which Monica has helped a lot with. Not only do I save money, but I tend to eat a lot more healthfully too!
Two words: automatic deductions. I have been living more frugally, but that does no good if I end up choosing to spend the money I saved on one thing on something else. So every week, my account is set to automatically deduct an amount that roughly corresponds to what I save from my frugality into my savings account. My retirement savings are also automatically deducted from my check.
